The Story Behind The Blooms

Meet Karissa

The Heart Behind the Blooms

Hello, I’m Karissa — a locally-trained florist now based in the beautiful Cotswolds. After years of city life, I traded the bustle for a slower, more intentional way of creating — one that honors the beauty of natural form, movement, and seasonality.

My philosophy is simple: no two designs should ever be the same. Each bouquet reflects the moment it’s made — the season, the palette, and the story behind the person receiving it.

From 2026, I’ll be introducing flowers grown in my own cutting garden — sustainably nurtured and locally harvested right here in Oakridge.

Where My Love for Flowers Began

I’ve always had a deep affection for flowers — their colour, fragrance, and quiet way of marking life’s moments. Growing up in regional southwest Queensland, springtime felt like magic. The fields around our family property would come alive in a patchwork of wildflowers, painting the landscape in every shade imaginable.

My grandmother was the true gardener of the family — her cottage garden was her pride and joy, and even in her eighties she was still winning ribbons at local flower shows. I used to watch her in awe, tending to every petal and leaf with such patience and love.

Those early memories shaped my appreciation for nature’s rhythm — the beauty of something grown with care, and the joy it brings when shared. Today, that same sense of wonder guides every bouquet I create, celebrating the simple, heartfelt connection between people and flowers.
